The Ontario Network of Sexual Assault / Domestic Violence Care and Treatment Centres
The Ontario Ministry of Health funds 34 hospital based Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Care and Treatment Centres. A team of nurses and physicians are on call 24 hours, 7 days a week through the emergency department so that victims of a sexual assault can receive specialized medical and emotional care. Many of the Centres also provide care to people who have been physically assaulted by their spouse or partner.
