The fear of becoming pregnant can be a major worry after a sexual assault. You may want to recommend to your friend that she talk to a nurse or doctor about the risk of getting pregnant. She may want to talk to someone about her worries, and get information about the choices she has. A nurse or doctor at the Sexual Assault Care Centre or any hospital Emergency Department or Public Health Department can talk with your friend about these worries. If she lives in Ontario, she could call the AIDS & Sexual Health InfoLine at 1-800-668-2437 for a list of places she could go for help.
Encourage your friend to reach out to others who may be able to help. Your friend may need more help than you can give her. You could offer to go with her to a clinic, the hospital or a school counsellor.
