I was raped on a date last night. I don't remember when my last period was and I am really afraid I may get pregnant. I am against abortions because of my religion. Does the morning after pill cause an abortion?

The Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP), also known as the "morning after pill", does not cause an abortion. It works by preventing a pregnancy, by temporarily stopping the release of an egg from a woman's ovary, or by preventing fertilization (the joining of the sperm and egg). It may also prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.
