Information Collection and Use

The Sexual Assault Care Centre (SACC) is the sole owner of the information collected on this site.  We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.


Email

Email sent to www.sacc.to, is reviewed and responded to by a staff member of the Sexual Assault Care Centre during business hours Monday to Friday.

Emails are not exempt from the laws in the province of Ontario, Canada that require us to report suspected child abuse.  If an email is sent to that includes identifying information that a child under the age of 16 may have been abused or is at risk for abuse, staff are required under the Child and Family Services Act to inform a Children's Protection Service such as the Children's Aid Society.

Cookies

A cookie is data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user.  Our site uses cookies to score your answers in the Myths & Facts Quiz.  The Sexual Assault Care Centre (SACC) does not store any personal information about you.  Cookies are automatically erased one hour after leaving the Myths & Facts Quiz.  The cookies generated by our server cannot be read by other servers.

Tell A Friend Referral Service

Tell A Friend allows users to tell their family and friends about our website.

If a user chooses to use our referral service, we request the referred person's name and email address.  The Sexual Assault Care Centre (SACC) will automatically send a one-time email inviting the referred to visit the site.  The page, name, URL, date, email address of the user and the referred are stored in our database.  This information is stored so that we can inform the user that the email has been viewed.  Every week, we check and delete all the viewed messages and other stored information from our database.  Also, after every 45 days, any unchecked emails and other stored information is deleted.  The information stored in the database is not viewed by anyone.  Everything is automatic using code that is on the server.

If required, the referred may contact The Sexual Assault Care Centre (SACC) at to inform us of an erroneous referral.  Such an email would result in its confirmation and the permanent exclusion of the address from further Tell A Friend referrals.
