I was sexually assaulted a few years ago and got chlamydia that was treated with medication. Now I am in a nice relationship and I am afraid to have sex, in case my boyfriend will get a disease. What should I do?

Generally, chlamydia responds well to medication. Often, you would receive a second test; "test of cure" to ensure that the medication was effective. If the medication was effective and you have had no other sexual partners, you should be free of chlyamydia. It is a good idea for both partners to be tested for HIV and STDs prior to initiating a sexual relationship. You may want to go to your family doctor or your local Sexual Health Clinic to discuss your concerns. If you live in Ontario, you could call the AIDS & Sexual Health InfoLine, 1-800-668-2437, for a list of places you could go.
